For the protection of barrier and barrier boom
In toll applications, collisions between vehicles and barrier booms occur frequently; at the same time, permanent operational readiness of the barriers is sought at toll stations. The auto-swing-away flange allows the barrier boom to automatically return to its original position. This prevents damage to the boom and barrier and reduces downtime.
In the event of a collision with a vehicle, the barrier boom is disengaged, swings out to the side and is held in place at the rear end of the barrier boom by means of a pivot shaft. Subsequently, the barrier boom is returned to its position in the flange by springs.
Manual re-engagement by an employee is not necessary. A boom contact is installed in the flange, which detects when the barrier boom has been deflected by a vehicle. After the barrier boom has been deflected by a vehicle, the flange is slowly turned into the open position so that the barrier boom is swung completely out of the lane. After reaching the open position, the barrier goes into operation again immediately or after an enable signal, depending on the set parameters.

While many standard models require manual re-engagement of the arm after a collision, an optional auto-return swing-away flange is available, which enables the boom to automatically re-engage, particularly on foam-equipped barrier arms.
